DLBP Attends Bisnow’s Atlanta Urban Core Conference
Earlier this week DLBP’s Senior Planner, Devynn Glanz, attended Bisnow’s Atlanta Urban Core Conference located at the Society Atlanta apartment complex in midtown Atlanta. The conference had a variety of keynote speakers who examined (1) the complexity of maintaining the vitality of midtown Atlanta and (2) the multifaceted approach of reinvigorating downtown Atlanta.
It was interesting to hear the variances in values, opinions, and best practices in these panel discussions. The midtown discussion focused more on the popularity of Midtown, current housing availability, and concerns about the high cost of the midtown market. In comparison, the downtown Atlanta panelists focused on revitalization and the importance of creating and promoting a safer, walkable, and mixed-use area with open space, affordable housing, and adaptive reuse projects with what an Urban Planner may consider Smart Growth and New Urbanist principles. These strategies were promoted within a public-private partnership and various funding sources such as Low-Income Housing and Historic Tax Credits and C-PACE (Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy).
DLBP is looking forward to seeing the growth that will continue and begin to occur in midtown and downtown Atlanta respectively in preparation for many exciting events to be held in Atlanta, such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup. We thank Bisnow for preparing this event and hope to attend more soon!
