DLBP secures permission for a luxury penthouse development in Spitalfields conservation area

DLBP is delighted to have secured a new planning permission on behalf of Upspace Construction Services for a luxury, 4-bed penthouse in a prime city location within the historic Artillery Row Conservation Area.

The permission sits aside an older permission that DLBP secured back in 2021 for the same scheme which was due to expire this year, thus allowing our client to keep the permission alive for another three years.

During the application, DLBP worked closely alongside officers at Tower Hamlets Council to address initial concerns around waste management to ensure a recommendation for approval was reached.

Despite the original scheme being approved under delegated powers, the application was required to be heard by the Development Committee due to the number of local objections received. DLBP delivered a strong argument in support of the scheme, responding successfully to local resident and councillor concerns around amenity impacts and emphasising the importance of consistency in Council decision-making.

DLBP looks forward to continuing to advise Upspace Construction Services to help deliver high-quality rooftop developments across London.
